    Introducing Kinscare

Here goes our first blog and we hope we will live up to your expectations!

Thanks for visiting Kinscare which is borne out of listening to countless conversations of caregivers and students.  Our hope is that you will find Kinscare useful and it will inspire you to dream and pursue your academic and professional goals.

We are just starting out and we have ways to go.  Our path ahead is not assured because we have failed in the past.  This is not the first time we have launched Kinscare - we have had to scrape Kinscare, go back to the drawing board and relaunch.  We forge ahead knowing that we’ll still get a lot wrong.  To succeed, we need to hear from you and that is why we now have a blog and other channels to collect feedback from you.

Our aim is to highlight local nursing and allied healthcare programs and careers.  Everyone knows nursing but what is allied healthcare?  Allied healthcare is not a specific profession like nursing but a collection of professions.  You can think of allied healthcare as all the professionals in healthcare who are not doctors or nurses or caregivers.  These professions include respiratory and surgical technicians, physical therapists, pharmacists, physician assistants, laboratory technicians, and many more.

Most people are interested in pursuing a career in nursing and there are great reasons for that.  But allied healthcare has many great career opportunities and some have a pay comparable or even greater to nursing.  All these professions are in great demand and their demand will only continue to grow due to demographics and increased rates of chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension in the general population.

If you have been keeping up with the news, you know that automation now disrupts blue collar professions and will only continue to do so.  There’s also the emergence and spread of artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to disrupt many white collar professions.  That’s why we decided to focus on nursing and allied healthcare professions because they are shielded from technological disruptions.  More importantly, they deliver critical services to society at large and there’s a great need for them.

At the moment, Kinscare has only listed nursing and allied healthcare programs located in Washington and Oregon.  We have listed these programs’ admission contact information, course prerequisites and requirements, information session dates and application date deadlines.  Over time we will list programs from other regions.

This is where we need you most - to verify that the information about the programs is correct and current.

Most nursing and allied healthcare programs require direct patient care experience and even if they don’t, direct care experience can strengthen your application.  One of the best ways to meet direct patient care experience is to work as a nurse aide (CNA) and that’s why we list CNA jobs and other caregiver jobs.  These jobs also help you gain a foothold in the field of your interest and earn while you go to school.

There is more we will share with time.  We love to hear from you and so feel free to drop a comment and share this blog.
